LOCAL STORE CELEBRATES 20 YEARS SERVING THE COMMUNITY

Dolan’s Mace in Kildress is celebrating a major milestone this year – 20 years of serving the local community with the very best in modern convenience retailing.

In 2006, Keith Dolan took ownership of the store, relaunching it as a Day Today store, one of Musgrave Northern Ireland’s retail brands, before later rebranding to Mace in 2012.

Today, Dolan’s Mace supports 15 local jobs and has continually evolved to meet customer needs. The site has undergone significant development over the years, including the introduction of a Post Office in March 2018, and the addition of an off licence and major revamp in October 2021.

Keith says he is extremely proud to have played an active role in the community and to lead a dedicated team, including 22 years of service from long-standing store manager Edel Conway who joined Keith’s team when he took over the store.

“For 20 years, we’ve been committed to excellent customer service and delivering the best value across our ranges. Our customers have supported us through every period of change, and I want to thank all our staff – past and present – for their hard work and loyalty, and our shoppers for their continued custom,” Keith said.

In 2022, the store was crowned Musgrave Northern Ireland’s Mace Store of the Year, recognising its continued commitment to retail excellence.

Looking ahead, Keith says the team remains focused on innovation and growth:

“We are always developing and improving to ensure the store continues to meet the needs of our customers – offering the best service, quality, range and value. We are looking forward to the future.”

As part of the 20th anniversary celebrations, shoppers also had the opportunity to enter a charity raffle, with one lucky customer winning two VIP tickets to see Westlife – raising funds for Mace’s charity partner, Northern Ireland Chest Heart and Stroke (NICHS). The store is a proud supporter of the charity and has raised £5,000 to date.

Keith emphasised the importance of giving back:

“Our team always gets behind fundraising for Northern Ireland Chest Heart and Stroke, and our customers are incredibly generous. Their support helps the charity continue delivering vital care and prevention services across local communities.”

Mace Sales Manager Jonathan Mills added:

“My congratulations go to Keith, his family, and the entire team on reaching 20 years in business. The store has gone from strength to strength, and this milestone is testament to their hard work and dedication.”
